soti-graduate-internship-galway-ireland

Interview with Sarah Hurley, Campus Recruiter for SOTI.

Sarah talks about opportunities for interns and recent graduates at the SOTI office in Galway.

SOTI is a global software development company specialising in mobile device management. The company is a proven innovator and industry leader for mobility and IoT management.

The SOTI One platform is an integrated management solution that delivers actionable insights to help companies make data-driven decisions.

The platform consists of products such as SOTI MobiControl, SOTI XSight, SOTI Connect and SOTI Snap.

Their technology stack includes C#, Microsoft Azure and NodeJS.

SOTI is headquartered in Canada.

Can you tell us about SOTI in Galway?

SOTI’s Galway office was setup four years ago and acts as the company’s R&D hub for EMEA. We have almost 60 employees in our office. Our technical roles include software developers, QA, tech support, product managers and professional services. Almost half of our Galway office works in software development and QA.

We have a vibrant culture with a startup feel. We thrive on collaboration.

Our office is quite diverse with people from many different countries around the world. This helps to bring different skills to different area’s of software development.

What internship or graduate opportunities do SOTI offer?

In Galway, we offer internships and recent graduate roles in software development and QA. We hire all year round, once roles become available.

We offer interns a minimum 8-month placement which is a great opportunity for them to work with senior technical leaders and learn on the job. We offer bootcamps and mentoring to upskill interns in the technologies we use.

For recent graduates, we offer a 12-month internship.

Do you offer hybrid working?

Yes we do, although we encourage interns to come to our office as much as possible to learn from other developers and QA staff. This improves collaboration as well as helping them to advance their training and development.

It’s also important for interns to spend time in our office to learn about our culture. However, we are open to catering for everyone’s individual needs.

Can you tell us about the interview process at SOTI?

For interns, the first stage is an initial screening where we ask brainteaser-type technical questions. After this, there will be a technical interview with senior software developers with a focus on soft technical skills such as brainteasers, as well as questions on algorithms and data structures.

We also ask interns to complete an online coding test, similar to Codility.com. Even though our developers use C#, the coding test is not code specific so interns can use whichever programming language they are most comfortable with.

During the interview process, we are looking for curious minds with an aptitude to learn. We are more interested in a candidates logical thinking process and how they go about completing a technical challenge, rather than ensuring they get the right answer.

What advice do you give to candidates applying to SOTI?

Be curious and ask questions during the initial stages of the interview process. Be able to speak about the projects you have completed at college, whether they are group or individual projects. It’s also good to know how you keep up to date with technology news and updates.

On your CV, include relevant modules you have studied during your college course, as well as projects you have worked on. Include part-time work experience so you can showcase your soft and transferable skills.

Where can interns and graduates find out more about SOTI?
